Known simply as “M’, Simplicio Michael Luis Asis Herrera and was born in Manila to a Chinese/Spanish father and a Spanish/Filipina mother. Due to his own cultural diversity M recognized the importance of creating harmony despite differences. M believes that you can wrap your body with the “fabric of thought”, and has therefore chosen fashion as the platform to communicate his philosophy. Beginning shortly after graduating from F.I.D.M. in 1996, M became head graphic designer for Karl Kani Jean (the Godfather of Hip Hop/Urban fashion) where he traveled to China and coordinated production and development. Simultaneously instructing fashion and graphic design at F.I.D.M. for 3 years before he relocated to Germany where he was offered Creative Director position in 2002, designing and managing for a team of 10 designers, catering to corporate brands such as such as PUMA-BMW for the Formula One Races. In 2005, M then began Mthemovement: a luxury designer streetwear line for men and women with denims, cashmere sweaters, fashion knit tops, shirtings, intimates and accessories, with an emphasis on eco friendly fabrics with humanitarian efforts.

His clientele have included: Adrien Grenier, Britney Spears, and the Black Eyed Peas and more recently, getting support from Reshon Fegan (Disney), Carly Rae-Jepsen (singer of hit “Call Me Maybe”), Big Sean, Perez Hilton, and the Jersey Shore crew. Mthemovement is now the hottest eco-friendly designer streetwear brand on the west coast of the United States. Today at 36 years of age, M has received a plethora of press, several awards, was included in several “Best T-shirt Graphics-2004″ and “Best Fashion Trims-2008″ and “How to run a fashion company-2008″ industry books and is currently serving as a memeber of the Advisory Board for the Bachelor of Business program at F.I.D.M., Los Angeles.
